Summer Pick-Up Games NOW SOFTBALL TOO !

BASEBALL

There will be Saturday morning and weekday evening baseball pick-up games all summer. They are free, and are open to all interested players who played Baseball Green or Baseball Blue this past spring. 8 year olds who played Baseball Gold are also encouraged to give it a try. 2009 Summer Travel players are not included.

SOFTBALL

There will be Thursday evening softball pick-up games all summer. They are free, and are open to all interested players who played Softball Minors or Softball Intermediate this past spring.

Babe Ruth Labor Day Workout NEW !

L.M.B.R.L. will be presenting our 1st annual Welcome To The Big Field workout and clinic around Labor Day weekend for all 12 year old baseball players who just graduated from Little League this past spring season. It's free, and no registration is necessary. Dates and times will be provided here as soon as they are finalized. We'll also be sending out e-mail invitations later this summer.

All 12 year old players and potential coaches are strongly encouraged to attend. This is not a tryout. It's just a clinic designed to introduce our Little Leaguers to the much larger regulation size field.

We'll feature:

batting practice with live and/or machine pitching from 60 feet

pitching practice and instruction from the 60 foot mound

leading, stealing and running drills on the 90 foot base paths

fielding and throwing drills of every kind

scrimmage games

This summer baseball/softball camp is hosted by Mike Chiapparelli, the Mamaroneck High School varsity baseball coach, and Bill Consiglio, the former Division I college coach and current president of 21st Century Sports. Daniel Marcus Awards 2009 !

The Daniel Marcus Sportsmanship Awards are presented each spring season to a 12 year old player in Baseball Majors and a 12 year old player in Softball Majors who have demonstrated sportsmanship, teamwork and maturity during their Little League careers. The awards honor the memory of Daniel J. Marcus (1985-1998), a former player in our league. The Daniel Marcus Sportsmanship Awards are the only individual player achievements recognized by L.M.L.L. Congratulations to this year's winners, and to all of our past recipients.

George Allen Awards 2009 !

The George Allen Coaching Awards are presented each spring season to a coach in Baseball Majors and a coach in Softball Majors whom have been judged as their respective division’s Coach of the Year, based upon the following criteria:

Quality of Little League experience the coach provides to the players on his/her team

Development of baseball/softball skills and knowledge

Creating a fun experience that helps foster a love for the game

Sportsmanship

Attitude towards players, parents, umpires and opposing coaches

Reliability, responsibility and communication

The awards honor the memory of George Allen (1947-2007), a former coach and dedicated Board member in our league. Congratulations to this year's inaugural year winners.

Stephen Spina Award 2009 !

The Stephen Spina Umpiring Award is presented each spring season to an umpire in competitive baseball or softball who has been judged to be the L.M.L.L.'s most exemplary, based on the following criteria:

Knowledge of the game

Attitude towards players and coaches

Reliability and responsibility

Overall demeanor, fairness and conduct

Willingness to teach and bring fun to the games

The award honors the memory of Stephen P. Spina (1971-2007), a former umpire in our league. Congratulations to this year's inaugural year co-winners.
