L.M.B.R.L. Baseball Local Rules

These rules apply to all Babe Ruth Rec and Babe Ruth Travel games during the 2004 spring season. They apply on home and away fields.

BEFORE THE GAME STARTS

1.  All games are on as scheduled unless you receive a phone call from the home team that the game has been cancelled.

2.  Call the opposing manager by Thursday night to verify games. If game is cancelled, please call the umpires.

3.  Home teams are responsible to pay the umpires and supply game balls (3).

4.  For 13 year old Division: –5 or –3 bats only. For 14/15 year old Division: –3 bats only.

5.  2 hour and 30 minutes game time.

6.  20 minutes grace time for forfeits. Games must begin 20 minutes after start time for situations where a team has less than 9 players. They just take outs in the lineup until the missing players show.

7.  All players must bat in the lineup.

8.  Exchange lineups before the game starts.

9.  Home team score book is the official book. Check scores every 1/2 inning.

DURING THE GAME

1.  No player can sit out 2 consecutive innings on defense.

2.  10 run mercy rule applies anytime after losing team has batted 5 times in a 7 inning game. For 16-17 year old Division: 6 times in a 9 inning game.

3.  Pitcher can only pitch 7 innings per weekend, and if he pitches more than 3 innings on Saturday he cannot pitch on Sunday. A pitcher cannot go back into pitch after he has pitched and has been taken out. For 16-17 year old Division: No pitcher can pitch more than 5 innings per weekend.

4.  If playing a doubleheader, each game will be only 6 innings.

5.  Balks: For 13 year old Division: none. For 14 and 14/15 year old Divisions: 1 warning per pitcher. For 15 and 16-17 year old Divisions: will be called.

6.  All players must slide or avoid contact when going into a base on a close play.

7.  You can slide head first.

8.  Don't argue with umpires, managers, players or fans. Warning: this will result in suspensions for players and/or coaches.

9.  Have fun ................................

AFTER THE GAME ENDS

1.  Shake hands with the other team.

2.  Clean up dugouts.

3.  Quickly collect all your equipment.

4.  Rake or fill in any holes by home plate and the pitchers mound.

5.  Winning coach e-mails or calls Nick Callagy at nnnwls@optonline.net or 914-469-8215 with scores.

NOTE:  L.M.B.R.L. coaches should instead use the web site's Contact Us feature to report all games: won, lost or not completed.
